A Quick Guide to Wimbledon 2015 (men’s singles)

Posted on June 20, 2015 at 9:44 pm

Wimbledon is back very soon, and who knows what’s in store over the next few weeks? Number one Novak Djokovic is the obvious favourite, but number 2 Federer is right behind him, and he’s been playing well of late.

The fan favourite Andy Murray will look to retain his title, and he’s second favourite among British bookies, while Stan Wawrinka and Nadal are outsiders. It’s looking as though Wimbledon 2015 will be Leighton Hewitt’s last major tournament, and that’s going to be a shame considering how popular he is among British tennis fans.

Number 75 seed Aljaz Bedene will look to impress, and at 25 he is showing signs of potential, but he’s got a long way to go before he fills Murray’s shoes. This year could be the year where there’s a real surprise, and players who have been pushed out of the spotlight, like Tsonga, Berdych, Lopez and Gasquet may cause a few upsets. It will certainly be an interesting tournament, but I’m sure we’ve all got our fingers crossed on Andy!
